Prayers

Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the So, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
mow and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

Guardian Angel Prayer
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide.  Amen.

Grace Before Meals
Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty,
through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Grace After Meals
We give you thanks, Almighty God, for all your gifts, living and reigning, now and forever.  Amen.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.

School Prayer
May God bless us, the community of Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Let our minds be open to accept your teachings;
Let our hearts learn to love and forgive;
Let our actions reflect that we are followers of Jesus.
Help us to spread your Word, the Good News of the gospel.
Help us to work hard and be with us as we learn and grow.
Thank you for the chance to make a new beginning today.
Watch over us and guide us so that we may always know your grace and love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Act of Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart,
in choosing to do wrong and in failing to do good.
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God, have mercy.  Amen.

Magnificat
My soul proclaims the goodness of the Lord.
My spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.
He has shown strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to help of hos servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham, and his children for ever.  Amen.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created
and you shall renew the face of the earth.

Lord,
by the light of the Holy Spirit
you have taught the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit
help us to relish what is right
and always rejoice in your consolation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.
